Statement from the Chicago City Council Latino Caucus on the Transition in the 35th Ward

CHICAGO – The Chicago Latino Caucus extends its heartfelt gratitude to Alderperson Carlos Ramirez-Rosa for his years of dedicated service on the City Council, his steadfast leadership within the Latino Caucus, and his pivotal role in the founding of the Chicago Latino Caucus Foundation. Carlos has been a tireless advocate for working families, social justice, and equitable investment in our communities. His bold, unapologetic vision has helped shape the progressive movement in Chicago and has left an indelible mark on the Latino Caucus and the City of Chicago. We congratulate him on his new role as Superintendent of the Chicago Park District and look forward to his continued public service in this next chapter.

We also warmly welcome former Commissioner Anthony Quezada as the new Alderperson of the 35th Ward and newest member of the Chicago Latino Caucus. Alderperson Quezada brings a deep commitment to the values of equity and community empowerment, and we are excited to work alongside him as we continue advancing policies that uplift Latino communities across Chicago. We look forward to his leadership and partnership in the years ahead.

Together, we remain focused on building a stronger, more inclusive city for all.

The City Council Latino Caucus includes 15 members from across the city. They represent wards as diverse as Chicago itself. In addition to Chair Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (33) and Vice-Chair Andre Vasquez (40), the Caucus membership includes: Ald. Daniel LaSpata (1), Ald. Peter Chico (10), Ald. Julia Ramirez (12), Ald. Jeylú Gutiérrez (14), Ald. Michael D. Rodriguez (22), Ald. Silvana Tabares (23), Ald. Bryon Sigcho-Lopez (25), Ald. Jessie Fuentes (26), Ald. Ruth Cruz (30), Ald. Felix Cardona (31), Ald. Anthony Quezada (35), and Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36). Chicago’s Clerk Anna Valencia is an ex-officio member of the Latino Caucus and Latino Caucus Foundation.
